REVIVAL OF STRIKE FOR SURVIVAL
During the 5th July strike many assurances were given by the department. But, on contrary no orders have been issued in agreed items and no serious consideration given on many genuine demands even after lapse of four months..
The charter of demands that includes closure of post offices, Cadre restructuring, Divisionalization of SBCO cadres, exemption of SBCO cadres from contributory negligence cases, long pending of GDS demands, retrograde mail network optimization project and revision of OTA rates etc are yet to get due consideration from department.
As such, we have no alternative but to resume the deferred strike. JCA reviewed the situation and came to conclusion to go on indefinite strike from 17th January 2012. Strike notice was served on 15th Dec 2011 by JCA Leaders. Strike is welcomed this time by all sections of entire postal cadres and campaign commenced in all parts of the country.
On 27.12.2011, Discussion on 25 point Charter of Demands has been held with the Postal Board -Member (Personnel), Member (Operations), Member (PLI) and Member (Planning). The discussion lasted for eight hours. Even though the JCA leaders have elaborately explained all the demands raised in the Charter, there was no favourable or result-oriented settlement on any of the demands. Thereafter the Central JCA met and decided to go ahead with the strike decision. It is decided to intensify the campaign.
Accordingly the Central JCA calls upon all the Branch/Divisional/Circle Union to organize MASS Dharna in front of all Circle/Regional/Divisional offices on 10.01.2012. It is also decided to organize candle-light protest demonstration/procession/rallies on all important places on 16.01.2012. Further all intensive campaign such as squad work, conventions, general bodies, press conferences etc may be organized at all levels.
Please circulate this circular translating into local language, among all SBCO employees without delay. Ensure total participation in all programmes of campaign organized by circle/ divisional/ Branch JCA and make the indefinite strike from 17.01.2012 a historic success.
With Struggle greetings
S.P. KULKARNI S.APPANRAJ
President General Secretary
